Hind limb targeting is an exercise used to improve hind limb awareness in dogs. This is a skill which many dogs struggle with.
Practicing this skill works to improve the back leg proprioception (The unconscious awareness of where a body part is in space) it also improves their co-ordination, balance and reduces the risk of injury, especially in sporting and working dogs!
Beginner dogs should start with a low level stable surface, plus lots of patience and rewards!
Appropriate conditioning, postural training and body awareness skills are important in reducing the risk of injury, plus its great bonding with your dog!
